EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based practice that was developed 40 years ago to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You will work one-on-one with a specially trained therapist, with the goal of treating the mental, emotional or behavioral challenge that is standing in the way of being able to live your best life. You will work to develop a specific treatment plan, and identify memories that might be contributing to your current symptoms. EMDR therapy does not require that you speak in great detail about traumatic memories. This often makes this type of treatment more tolerable for people, and avoids the risk of re-traumatization through re-visiting difficult past events.
